leadership program. dan jordan and steven tennis (sounds like). >> hello, i'm dan jordan, a peer counselor with the central city sro collaborative and i live in an sro hotel on 6th. this hotel like so many is a walk up. mine is a four floor building. i live on the top floor. there's a lady that uses a wheelchair and is virtually held prisoner in her home. she cannot get in and out of the hotel unless someone is willing to carry her wheelchair down the stairs and back up. there are many elderly people living in these hotels, aging, becoming disable with no way to get in and out. if they could find the hotel that is wheelchair accessible, most of the time they cannot afford it. my own hotel now is $800 a month. when i moved in it was $525. in social security you are getting about $900 a month. they're not affordable. we need to do something about accessibility throughout the building. and again, mine is not accessible to the restroom for people with disabilities. and we don't have anything like that, bars or anything to hold on to in the showers. we have tile floors which are extrem
it together, but dan was one of the strongest, most contributory members of the entire task force. whenever we needed anything done, any heavy lifting, dan was there. other members moved on to other cities and other opportunities. it would be unfair to not admit that some left in anger. they weren't getting everything that they had asked for. but if truth be told, of 50 members i can only think of two or three who were so unhappy that they left the task force. the way we structured this, we established ultimately four subcommittees. one that dealt with business and land use, another the complete neighborhood fabric, transportation focus group, and an arts and entertainment subcommittee. there were times in the first three years when, if you included the monthly task force meetings, we were meeting five times a month on this plan.

conservation. we have steve from the engineering group. we have dan -- who i see i missed. excuse me. we have dpw who did the design for the area. we have them with the living classroom and maybe it was going to be in another area but it's going to be here at the port of san francisco and had the help of a number of agencies and the parks department and keeping as gorgeous and welcoming as it is. this part was not a park for long. originally this was supposed to be a terminal and imagine if we can containers stacked around here. instead we have a place for humans to come and enjoy, dogs to come and enjoy, the children come and learn about the natural habitat about one of the areas that is best weather wise and we are proud to reinvent ourselves and use our ability to make it all better. i would like to thank the mta with their vision and the blue green way on cargo lane and of course last but not least the park of rec and park and without them we wouldn't be here today having this great celebration and i hope you come back with your dogs, with your families and picnic and enjoy yours
afternoon commissioners dan fratten with ruben and geniuses and i would like to start by reminding you what the efficiency dwelling unit legislation is, it's not a radical change it's legislation that would reduce the minimum allowable unit size by 70 square feet for a very long time, san francisco has allowed a 220 square foot minimum area for living area this makes it 750 square feet. we see from a 220 square foot units what kind of effects we might expect and they are already a part of our housing market and there is just not going to be a big change. i think a lot of the opposition to this -- excuse me this legislation is really driven by a lot of unfounded fears and a lot of prejudice about who will be live engine them this this mornings chronicle the short arch overed this rational for the cap. crash pad apartments will be for people who work in the silicon value quay who need a play place to sleep and party. new comers who come here to have fun and then hop on the google bus. i think so it's unfortunate that in 2012, we are still having debates about you know which shouldn't build
